Projects and lines of actions

Under the INFORM line of action, Childhood Brasil develops the following activities:

  • Advertising campaigns against sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents.
  • The Tim Lopes Investigative Journalism Contest, with the purpose of foster ing and improv ing the quality of journalistic coverage on the cause in Brazil. The contest is already in its 4 th edition.
  • Broad dissemination of the cause through quality information provided to the media all over the country.

 

Under the EDUCATE line of action, Childhood Brasil develops the following activities:

  • The creation of the On the Right Track Program with the purposes of conducting advocacy among governments, companies, and the third sector, educating truck drivers so that they become protection agents, and empowering child and adolescent protection organizations so that they can build more effective solutions to fight child and adolescent sexual exploitation on roads.
  • The creation, publication and distribution of the Navegar com Segurança Booklet (Safe Online Surfing), which gathers a number of hints that can be adopted by educators, parents and guardians to prevent on-line abuse and child-youth pornography on the internet.
  • The creation and coordination of the Programa Refazendo Laços (Remaking Bonds Program) and the Projeto Laços da Rede (Bonds of the Network Project), which intends to reduce the rate of domestic and sexual violence by empowering and building capacity of Teachers, Guardianship Councils, health agents, and social workers, as well as professionals in other areas, are trained to carry out their roles in protecting children and adolescents

 

Under the PREVENT line of action, Childhood Brasil develops the following activities:

  • The d evelopment of Community - based P rojects to empower civil society organizations that work with at-risk children and adolescents with an innovative methodology that can be replicated in other locations to fight sexual violence against children and adolescents.
  • The i mplementation of the Code of Conduct and the Procedures Manual in partnership with companies that are interested in preventing child and adolescent sexual exploitation connected with Tourism and in promoting Sustainable Tourism.
  • Technical cooperation with government s for the development of plans to prevent child and adolescent sexual violence.

 

Over its almost 10 years of existence, Childhood Brasil has already helped more than 700 thousand children, adolescents, families, professionals, government officials and civil society organizations with 63 projects and 13 strategic programs.
